NEW YORK (Reuters) – Jermaine Paul of Team Blake won TV singing contest “The Voice” on Tuesday night, taking home a recording contract with Universal Republic Records, a $100,000 cash prize and a shot at his dream of singing stardom. Paul collapsed into a hug from his coach Blake Shelton and wiped away tears as he thanked his wife, children, and all of the people who voted for him, ending his speech by exclaiming “nobody but Jesus!” He received embraces from his family as he sang “I Believe I Can Fly” to close out the show. …

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) – Amazon.com Inc unveiled a new effort to develop original comedy and children’s TV shows to distribute over the company’s video streaming service. The world’s largest Internet retailer said people will be able to submit ideas for television series to the website of its Amazon Studios unit. LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) – HBO has decided not to go forward with its drama pilot “The Corrections.” The network told TheWrap that it has pulled the plug on the project, based on the Jonathan Franzen novel. The pilot would have starred Ewan McGregor as Chip, the younger son of an elderly Midwestern couple trying to draw all of their children home for one last Christmas together. In the book, Chip is a writer and academic who gets mixed up with a Lithuanian crime boss.
