NEW YORK (TheWrap.com) – Lance Armstrong and Google’s Marissa Mayer will appear on the debut episode of “The Gavin Newsom Show,” the upcoming Current TV program hosted by California’s lieutenant governor. Newsom, the former mayor of San Francisco and a rising star in California politics, has lined up a list of high-profile guests for the hour-long weekly talk show. When Current TV announced the show, it said many of the guests would come from Silicon Valley and Hollywood.
(Reuters) – CBS has sued rival ABC, accusing it of cloning its long-running U.S. summer series “Big Brother” with its new reality TV show, “The Glass House.” Thursday’s copyright infringement lawsuit contends the new ABC show is a “carbon copy” of “Big Brother” and even employs 19 former producers and staff from that show. Scheduled to begin airing on June 18, “Glass House” will feature 14 contestants who are filmed continuously with cameras as they live in a large house. …
NEW YORK (Reuters) – Hollie Cavanagh was sent home from top-rated TV talent show “American Idol” on Thursday night after singing “I Can’t Make You Love Me” – a song choice that proved prophetic. Cavanagh closed out the show by performing Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb,” remaining composed while fellow contestant Joshua Ledet wept as she sang. Almost 70 million votes were cast to determine Thursday’s outcome. Audience voting was based on performances on Wednesday night’s episode during which contestants sang songs by artists from California, followed by songs they wished they had written. …

The cable network is partnering with the Vice entertainment company to create a news magazine series to be titled – what else – “Vice.” The weekly show will be hosted by “Vice” founder Shane Smith, who will executive produce along with “Real Time” host Bill Maher and Eddy Moretti, Vice’s chief creative officer.
